Software Engineering Apprentice

Mentor & Apprentice is a pathway to the IT consulting industry for aspiring talents who are eager to work on meaningful projects and solve challenging problems. You may be at the beginning of your career or willing to turn a new page in your professional story (1–3 years of working experience).

The most important thing is your curiosity, enthusiasm to learn new skills, and willingness to grow into an IT consultant role working closely with the customer. M&A is a safe environment for learning the skills needed to succeed as a consultant, in actual real-life projects.

We will have four streams: software development, cloud engineering, business process automation, and test automation. Each stream recruits 2–4 people. Our instructors and mentors are skilled experts with years of experience in the IT industry. They are all passionate about helping others and teaching solid development principles.

Are you a critical thinker who loves to solve complex problems in a fast-changing environment? Are you confident with at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript) plus a related framework (Spring, React, Angular), and possess the basic skills of development tools like Git and the command line? Have you already built and delivered some digital services either at work or school or as a passion project?

If you are a proactive person with a curious attitude and a strong interest in software development, apply now and join Siili as a software engineering apprentice and get an assigned mentor to provide support for your first working months. As a Siili, you get to work on projects with a multi-disciplinary team using modern tooling and agile methodologies.

Candidate’s background:

• Master/Bachelor thesis or equal finished – studies must have been completed.
• Self-learned experts are valid to apply, if there is clear and convincing evidence of the experience and competence.
• Relevant work experience (1–3 years) in IT industry, preferably in a software development project.
• Knowledge of how HTML & CSS work.
• Basic understanding of Git usage.
• Basic skills of Java and/or React/Angular/JavaScript as well as motivation to learn more.
• Familiarity to work with REST APIs.
• Familiarity to work with SQL/NoSQL databases.    
• Readiness to find and follow docs and write your own.
• Some knowledge of cloud services like AWS or Azure is a plus.
• Basic understanding of unit testing.
• Finnish is not a requirement, but it is a plus.
